Global Prime is an Australian ECN broker trading since 2010 that does something most competitors will not: it shows you which liquidity provider filled your order, at what price, and how far that price moved from the one you clicked. We spent more than four weeks with a funded account in the first quarter of 2026 — 60 live trades, a real deposit, a real withdrawal.
The execution matched the marketing. Costs were among the lowest we have measured, the withdrawal the fastest we have tested, the regulatory record clean. The problems sit elsewhere — and for anyone outside Australia, the onboarding path leads to an offshore entity rather than the ASIC-licensed one. Our method is set out at how we rate brokers.

Pros and cons
We opened a Raw account through the Vanuatu entity, funded it with $500 by Visa card, and placed more than 60 trades on major pairs, gold and oil in January and February 2026.
What works
- A tier-one ASIC licence (number 385620), with client money in segregated trust accounts at National Australia Bank, rated AA
- Raw spreads from 0.0 pips with $7 per standard lot round turn — at the low end of anything we have measured
- No minimum deposit, no inactivity fee, no deposit or withdrawal charge from the broker
- Genuine ECN routing across 26 liquidity providers, including tier-one banks and specialist ECN networks
- MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5, plus FIX API access for institutional and algorithmic traders
- Trade receipts naming the executing liquidity provider and the slippage on every fill
What does not
- No swap-free account of any kind, so every position held overnight incurs financing
- A narrow instrument list — just over 150 products, against 2,200+ at IC Markets and 1,200+ at Pepperstone
- No FCA, CySEC or European authorisation, and therefore no investor compensation scheme behind your balance
- Clients outside Australia are routed to the Vanuatu or Seychelles entity, not the ASIC-regulated one
- Neither TradingView nor cTrader is supported, and only around 100 share CFDs are listed
- Not all countries are accepted; the business is oriented towards Australia and Asian markets
Company information
Checking the filings in January 2026, we found the business was incorporated in Sydney in 2010 as FMGP Trading Group Pty Ltd. It began serving institutional clients on MetaTrader 4 and opened to retail traders in 2011. The Australian entity holds ABN 74 146 086 017 and is registered at Level 10, 627 Chapel Street, South Yarra 3141, Australia.
A second entity, Gleneagle Securities Pty Limited, operates as Global Prime FX, registered in Vanuatu under number 40256 and supervised by the VFSC. Which of the two you deal with depends on where you live, and it changes what protects your money.
The management team has more than 80 years of combined market experience, with Elan Bension heading the institutional division and Jeremy Kinstlinger the retail side — a split that shows in a pricing infrastructure built for professional flow first. The firm serves traders in more than 170 countries, was ranked first broker in a ForexPeaceArmy poll in May 2025 and won TradeProofer’s Best Broker for Execution award for 2025. Independent sources report that it donates a share of revenue to charity, though we could not verify the proportion.

Who this broker suits (and who it does not)
Global Prime is built for a trader who cares more about how an order fills than about how many products sit in the market watch — a scalper, or anyone running a strategy where a fraction of a pip repeated hundreds of times decides the outcome.
It is a poor fit in three cases. If you need a swap-free account, Global Prime did not offer one as of our review in the first quarter of 2026. If you trade individual equities or ETFs, roughly 100 share CFDs will frustrate you quickly. And if you want TradingView or cTrader as your charting environment, MetaTrader is the only option here.
Licensing and regulation
We checked each licence against the regulators’ own registers in January 2026 rather than taking the website’s word for it.
| Regulator | Jurisdiction | Licence number | Tier |
|---|---|---|---|
| ASIC (Australian Securities and Investments Commission) | Australia | 385620 | Tier 1 |
| VFSC (Vanuatu Financial Services Commission) | Vanuatu | 40256 | Tier 3 (offshore) |
| FSA (Financial Services Authority) | Seychelles | 8426189-1 | Tier 3 (offshore) |
Licence 385620 is registered to FMGP Trading Group Pty Ltd and can be looked up on ASIC’s electronic register. When we checked, it was active, with no breaches, disciplinary actions or adverse regulatory decisions recorded against the firm. ASIC sits alongside the FCA among the strongest regulators anywhere, and its authorisation carries real obligations:
- Full segregation of client money in trust accounts held apart from the firm’s operating funds
- Strict operating-capital requirements that keep the firm able to meet its obligations
- Negative balance protection for retail clients, so you cannot lose more than you deposited
- Leverage capped at 1:30 for retail clients, liftable to 1:500 under Pro Trading status on defined conditions
- Periodic financial reporting and regular independent audits
There is a caveat, and it is the biggest qualifier on this review. Clients outside Australia are typically routed to the Vanuatu entity, Gleneagle Securities Pty Limited, or to the Seychelles entity — not the ASIC-regulated one. Opening our account, we were directed automatically to Vanuatu on the basis of our location, so the protection you actually receive is weaker than the headline licence implies. The firm says it applies the same segregation standards across all entities; we could not verify that independently.
For comparison: IC Markets holds ASIC, CySEC and FSA; Pepperstone holds FCA, ASIC, CySEC and DFSA; Eightcap holds ASIC, FCA and CySEC. Without an FCA or CySEC licence, Global Prime has no European compensation scheme behind your balance.
Opening an account and verification
We opened our account in January 2026. The process is fully digital, and the registration form took around 10 minutes — slightly longer than average because of detailed questions on source of income, assets, prior trading experience and product knowledge. Those are mandated by ASIC rules; their presence is a good sign, not an obstacle.
We then uploaded a passport scan and a recent bank statement as proof of address. Verification came back in one business day, against a typical industry range of one to three. Global Prime accepts a passport or driving licence for identity, and a bank statement or utility bill no more than three months old for address, in English or with a certified translation.
One detail is worth naming because its absence is so rare: nobody phoned us. There was no account manager calling within the hour to push a deposit, which is standard practice at a depressing number of brokers.
A demo account is available with no deposit requirement and mirrors live conditions closely. We would use it for at least two weeks before funding anything, to watch spread behaviour at different hours — spreads here widen noticeably between the US close and the Asian open.
Account types
The line-up is simpler than most competitors offer. When we tested in the first quarter of 2026 there were two live accounts plus a demo.
| Feature | Standard (no commission) | Raw (ECN) |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum deposit | None | None |

Standard bundles all cost into the spread from 0.9 pips. Raw strips the spread to 0.0 pips and charges $7 per standard lot round turn instead. Costing EUR/USD through active hours, Raw came out cheaper in most cases, and decisively so for frequent traders.
Every client gets the same terms: deposit $100 or $100,000 and you receive identical spreads and execution. Many brokers tier pricing by balance so the advertised spread reaches only large accounts; Global Prime does not.
Seven account currencies are supported — US dollar, Australian dollar, sterling, euro, Singapore dollar, Canadian dollar and Japanese yen. Fund in anything else and you absorb a conversion cost both ways.
Pro Trading status, available to Australian clients, raises leverage to 1:500 but lowers the stop-out level to 20% and requires defined experience criteria — a genuine increase in risk, not a perk. Clients on the Vanuatu entity get up to 1:100 on forex and 1:5 on crypto. GP Copy, the copy-trading tool, runs inside MetaTrader and gave us detailed performance statistics on each strategy provider.
Fees and trading costs
Spreads
We measured spreads on the Raw account against three competitors running a similar ECN model. The figures below are averages during active hours — the London and New York sessions — on each broker’s raw or ECN account. All four charge commission on top.
| Instrument | Global Prime (Raw) | IC Markets (Raw) | Pepperstone (Razor) | Eightcap (Raw) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EUR/USD | 0.10 pips | 0.10 pips | 0.09 pips | 0.11 pips |
| GBP/USD | 0.28 pips | 0.40 pips | 0.37 pips | 0.40 pips |
| USD/JPY | 0.30 pips | 0.20 pips | 0.17 pips | 0.25 pips |
| AUD/USD | 0.12 pips | 0.20 pips | 0.27 pips | 0.18 pips |
| USD/CHF | 0.37 pips | 0.50 pips | 0.45 pips | 0.42 pips |
| Gold (XAU/USD) | 7.9 cents | 8.0 cents | 13 cents | 9.0 cents |
| Oil (WTI) | 2.3 cents | 2.5 cents | 3.0 cents | 2.8 cents |
Measured by our team from broker data and direct observation during January and February 2026 on raw and ECN accounts. Spreads are variable; these are averages during active hours.
Global Prime beat all three competitors on GBP/USD, AUD/USD and USD/CHF. On EUR/USD the four were effectively level. Pepperstone was marginally cheaper on USD/JPY. On gold and oil, Global Prime came in at the tight end of the group.
Commission
Raw charges $7 per standard lot round turn, or $3.50 per side — matching IC Markets, Pepperstone and Eightcap on their equivalent accounts. Standard charges no commission, with cost built into the spread. All-in on EUR/USD in the Raw account, the cost worked out at roughly $8 per standard lot: about $1 of spread plus $7 of commission. That places Global Prime among the cheapest brokers we have costed.
Overnight financing and the absence of a swap-free account
Positions held overnight incur swap charges, calculated daily by the institutional liquidity partners. In our testing these sat around the middle of the competitive range. Current rates can be read from the instrument properties in MT4 or MT5.
Global Prime does not offer a swap-free account, and that matters beyond any single market. Swap-free accounts serve traders following Islamic finance principles, but they are also the standard route for anyone holding positions across weeks on high-interest-rate-differential pairs, where financing quietly becomes the largest line in the cost stack. Neither group is served here: as of our testing in the first quarter of 2026 there was no account variant and no request process. IC Markets and Pepperstone both offer the option.
Deposit, withdrawal and inactivity fees
Here Global Prime is genuinely unusual. It charges nothing on deposits or withdrawals, and absorbs the processing fees on PayPal, Neteller, Skrill and card transactions — charges that can reach 4% of the deposit, which most brokers pass straight through. The exception is international bank wires, where your sending bank’s fee of typically $20 to $30 applies. There is no inactivity fee, so an account can sit dormant without the balance eroding.
Desktop platforms
Global Prime runs the industry-standard MetaTrader stack and nothing beyond it. MetaTrader 4 is available on Windows, Mac and web; on Global Prime’s build the server connection was stable and price updates arrived with under 50 milliseconds of latency during active hours.
MetaTrader 5 runs on the same three platforms and is the better choice: 38 built-in indicators against MT4’s 30, 21 timeframes against 9, an integrated economic calendar and more flexible hedging. Some sources state that Global Prime does not support MT5; from direct testing in the first quarter of 2026 it does, through the official site, and it worked without issue — support appears to have been added relatively recently.
FIX API access is offered for institutional clients, hedge funds and family offices needing a dedicated direct connection. AutoChartist is bundled in; testing it in February 2026, it identified head and shoulders, triangles and flags automatically and marked potential entry and exit levels.
The gap is charting choice. IC Markets offers MT4, MT5 and cTrader; Pepperstone adds TradingView; Eightcap offers MT4, MT5 and TradingView. Global Prime has neither, and TradingView in particular has become the default environment for a growing share of traders.
Mobile apps
We tested the MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 apps linked to our Global Prime account on Android during February 2026. Both are free on Google Play and the App Store. MT4 covers the basics — market and pending orders, charts with 30 indicators, stop-loss and take-profit adjustment, a news feed — while MT5 adds the economic calendar, 38 indicators and additional order types, and is the one we would use.
Over two weeks we placed 15 trades from the phone with no execution problems and no dropped connections. Mobile fill speed was close to desktop, and notifications fired reliably. The MT4 app holds 4.4 stars on Google Play with something similar on the App Store, but that rating belongs to the generic MetaTrader app rather than to Global Prime; what depends on the broker is server stability, and on that count it performed well throughout.
Trading tools
Trading the live account through the first quarter of 2026, we found the instrument range covers the core categories but is thin against larger competitors. Just over 150 instruments are offered.
| Category | Global Prime | IC Markets | Pepperstone | Eightcap |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Forex pairs | 59 | 61 | 90+ | 45+ |
| Indices | 18 | 25 | 28 | 20 |
| Commodities | 23 | 22 | 30+ | 14 |
| Share CFDs | 100+ | 1600+ | 900+ | 600+ |
| Cryptocurrencies | 38 | 20+ | 30+ | 100+ |
| Bonds | 3 | 11 | 3 | 0 |
| Total | 150+ | 2200+ | 1200+ | 800+ |
The gulf is in share CFDs. IC Markets lists over 1,600 and Pepperstone over 900; Global Prime offers just over 100, all US names. For an equities-focused trader that is disqualifying, and better served by brokers carrying a full single-stock book.
Elsewhere the range holds up. The 59 forex pairs cover majors, minors and exotics; the 38 cryptocurrencies include Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple and Litecoin; commodities span precious metals (gold, silver, platinum, palladium, copper), energy (WTI, Brent, natural gas) and agricultural products.
Trading gold, we found liquidity excellent and the spread competitive, and conditions on the major forex pairs were among the best we have tested anywhere. On the exotics — USD/TRY and USD/ZAR in particular — spreads widened considerably, which is expected but worth knowing before you size a position there.
Order execution
We placed 60 live trades across January and February 2026, and execution was the strongest thing about this broker. Across all 60 we received zero requotes — consistent with the claimed true ECN, no-dealing-desk model, in which orders pass to liquidity providers and fill without broker intervention.
In normal conditions slippage came in under 0.1 pips on 85% of trades. During the February 2026 US employment release it rose to 0.3 to 0.5 pips on some fills — expected in high volatility, and notably restrained against what we have seen elsewhere on the same release.
Liquidity comes from 26 providers spanning tier-one banks, specialist ECN networks and non-bank market makers focused on particular currency pairs. That breadth produces the depth and the pricing.
What sets Global Prime apart is trade receipts: every trade generates a record showing the requested price, the executed price, the liquidity provider that filled it, and the slippage. Most brokers disclose none of this, and it is the clearest evidence we found that the ECN claim is real rather than marketing.
Deposits
We deposited $500 by Visa card in January 2026. The transaction took under a minute and the funds appeared in the trading account immediately.
| Method | Processing time | Minimum | Fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| Visa / MasterCard | Instant | $10 | Free (absorbed by broker) |
| Apple Pay | Instant | $10 | Free |
| PayPal | Instant | $10 | Free (absorbed by broker) |
| Cryptocurrency | Instant | $10 | Free |
| Neteller | Instant | $10 | Free (absorbed by broker) |
| Skrill | Instant | $10 | Free (absorbed by broker) |
| Local bank transfer (Australia) | 1–2 business days | $10 | Free |
| International bank wire | 3–5 business days | $30 | Sending bank fee ($20–$30) |
| FasaPay | Instant | $10 | Free |
| AstroPay | Instant | $10 | Free |
| Perfect Money | Instant | $10 | Free |
As set out under fees, the processing charges on PayPal, Skrill, Neteller and cards are absorbed by the broker rather than deducted from the credited amount. Minimums are low at $10 on most methods and $30 on international wires, which makes it practical to fund a small account and judge the broker on evidence before committing more.
Withdrawals
We submitted a $200 withdrawal to PayPal at 8am Sydney time on a Tuesday. The funds arrived within two hours — the fastest withdrawal we have recorded from any broker we have tested.
| Method | Processing time | Minimum | Fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| Local bank transfer | 1–2 business days | $10 | Free |
| International bank wire | 3–5 business days | $30 | Free (receiving bank may charge) |
| Cryptocurrency | Immediate after processing | $10 | Free |
| PayPal | Immediate after processing | $10 | Free |
| Neteller | Immediate after processing | $10 | Free |
| Skrill | Immediate after processing | $10 | Free |
| Interac | 1–3 business days | $10 | Free |
The cut-off matters: requests submitted before 10am Australian Eastern time are processed the same day, anything later on the next business day. Even the slow path beats an industry norm of one to three business days.
Two conditions to know. Global Prime does not accept third-party payments — the name on the payment method must match the name on the trading account. And card deposits are refunded to the same card up to the value of the original deposit, with anything above that paid by bank transfer.
We were not asked for additional documents at the withdrawal stage, because verification had been completed at account opening, and the request was not refused, delayed or conditioned.
Customer support
We contacted support through several channels in February 2026. Live chat runs 24/7; on a Wednesday afternoon we had a reply in 25 seconds, and the agent answered questions on commission structure and withdrawal methods clearly. A technical email query about FIX API configuration sent at 10am on a Thursday drew a detailed reply within four hours, against industry response times of 12 to 24 hours. Phone support is offered on an Australian number during business hours; we did not test it.
What stood out was quality rather than speed. Replies were precise, technical and useful, and did not read as though copied from a script — the team appears to have genuine trading and product knowledge, which distinguishes Global Prime from brokers where support cannot go past a canned answer.
On Trustpilot, Global Prime holds 4.7 out of 5 from more than 300 reviews, with 79% five-star and only 6% one-star. The recurring praise concerns withdrawal speed, support quality and pricing transparency, and the firm responds to 100% of negative reviews at an average of 48 hours.
Research and education
Research and education were the weakest area we assessed in the first quarter of 2026. Global Prime does not position itself as an educational destination; the investment goes into execution and pricing instead.
The main research tool is the bundled AutoChartist, which scans for chart patterns automatically — a reasonable starting point but no substitute for your own analysis. The firm publishes daily and weekly analysis on its blog covering the major currency pairs and commodities, and the site carries an education section with basic guides to forex, CFDs and trading terminology. It is serviceable but not comprehensive against the structured academies run by brokers such as XM or IC Markets. If you need to learn the fundamentals you will be supplementing this from outside sources; if you already know what you are doing, the shortfall costs you nothing.
Fund safety and protections
Segregation. Client money is held in trust accounts kept entirely separate from the firm’s operating funds, at National Australia Bank — an AA-rated Australian bank supervised by APRA and ASIC. If the firm ran into financial difficulty, client funds would remain isolated from creditor claims.
Negative balance protection. Applied to retail clients under the Australian ASIC entity, this means you cannot lose more than your account balance even in severe volatility — a meaningful backstop, though not a substitute for controlling position size yourself.
Audit. The firm undergoes regular independent audits and files periodic financial reports with ASIC. Our research found no breaches or adverse regulatory decisions on the record.
What is missing. There is no investor compensation scheme — nothing equivalent to the UK’s FSCS at up to £85,000 or Cyprus’s ICF at up to €20,000, because Australia operates no comparable scheme for the brokerage sector. In the unlikely event of insolvency, your fund safety rests entirely on segregation. Pepperstone’s FCA entity carries FSCS cover and IC Markets’ CySEC entity carries ICF cover; Global Prime carries neither, and that should weigh on the comparison. Set against it, segregation at an AA-rated bank under ASIC supervision provides high practical protection, and the firm has operated more than 15 years without a fund security incident.
Risk warning. Trading CFDs carries a high level of risk. A large proportion of retail trading accounts lose money on these products — industry statistics indicate that between 74% and 89% of retail accounts do so. Global Prime does not publish its own loss ratio on its site. Consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford the high risk of losing your money. Nothing here is financial advice, and past performance does not indicate future results.
Verdict
After more than four weeks of testing in the first quarter of 2026, Global Prime scores 8.6 out of 10, among the highest results in our broker reviews.
It is a genuine Australian ECN broker with exceptional transparency in pricing and execution. The tier-one ASIC licence, segregation at an AA-rated bank and the absence of hidden or inactivity fees put it ahead of the field, and the trade receipts are something we almost never see. Raw spreads are among the tightest we have measured and the $7 round-turn commission matches the prevailing standard.
Three limitations hold the score where it is. Regulation does the most damage: the ASIC licence is excellent, but most international clients are onboarded to the Vanuatu or Seychelles entity instead, and no entity in the group sits behind an investor compensation scheme. Then the absence of any swap-free account, and an instrument list of just over 150 products with no TradingView or cTrader to trade them on.
Global Prime suits a trader who values fill quality and cost above breadth. It does not suit equity traders, anyone needing swap-free, or anyone who wants compensation-scheme cover behind their balance. Most retail clients lose money trading leveraged products, and a good broker changes the cost of trading, not the odds of it.
Is Global Prime trustworthy?
Is Global Prime a scam?
No. The firm has operated since 2010 under an Australian ASIC licence, client money sits in segregated trust accounts at National Australia Bank, and it holds 4.7 out of 5 on Trustpilot from more than 300 reviews. When we checked the ASIC register in January 2026, the licence was active and the record clean.
Is Global Prime really ASIC licensed?
Yes, and you can confirm it by searching ASIC’s register for licence number 385620 or for FMGP Trading Group Pty Ltd. The qualifier is that holding an ASIC licence and serving you under it are different things: opening an account from outside Australia, we were routed automatically to the Vanuatu entity. Check which entity your own account agreement names before you fund it.
Can I actually withdraw my money?
In our testing, yes, and quickly. A $200 PayPal withdrawal requested at 8am Sydney time on a Tuesday landed within two hours, with no extra documents asked for and no fee deducted. The main practical constraint is that the payment method must be in your own name.
Does Global Prime offer a swap-free account?
No. As of our testing in the first quarter of 2026 there was no swap-free or interest-free option at all, and every position held overnight incurs financing. If that rules the broker out for you, IC Markets and Pepperstone both offer swap-free accounts.
Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum deposit at Global Prime?
There is no formal minimum, and you can fund from $10 on most payment methods or $30 by international wire. Practically, we would fund at least $200 so that position sizes stay small enough relative to the balance for risk to be managed properly.
How long do withdrawals take?
When we tested in early 2026, PayPal, Neteller and Skrill withdrawals were released immediately after processing — within a few hours if the request went in before 10am Sydney time. Local bank transfers took one to two business days and international wires three to five, with no fee from the broker.
What is the difference between the Standard and Raw accounts?
Standard trades commission-free with spreads from 0.9 pips; Raw offers spreads from 0.0 pips with $7 per standard lot round turn, and works out cheaper for active traders. Neither requires a minimum deposit, and both give you the same instruments and platforms.
What leverage does Global Prime offer?
Under the ASIC entity, retail leverage is capped at 1:30, rising to 1:500 under Pro Trading status, which also lowers the stop-out level to 20%. Clients on the Vanuatu entity get up to 1:100 on forex and 1:5 on cryptocurrencies. Higher leverage magnifies losses as readily as gains.
Which platforms does Global Prime support?
MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 on Windows, Mac and web, the MT4 and MT5 mobile apps, FIX API, AutoChartist and GP Copy. TradingView and cTrader are not supported.
How many instruments can I trade?
Just over 150: 59 forex pairs, 18 indices, 23 commodities, 100+ US share CFDs, 38 cryptocurrencies and 3 bonds — well short of IC Markets at 2,200+ and Pepperstone at 1,200+, with the gap concentrated in single-stock CFDs.
